We at Gumroad take a slightly different approach to online commerce. We think that content creators should be able to sell their work simply and easily online. Since selling on Gumroad is as simple as sharing a link, sellers can turn their social media followings into their own personal marketplace — even allowing their consumers to become their marketing team via post-purchase sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

So, we’re incredibly excited to be involved in NYC’s first-ever eCommerce Hack Day, hosted by Dwolla and Etsy, two other companies shaking up the payments and eCommerce spaces. The Hack Day takes place August 4-5, 2012 at The Hatchery, and we’d love to have you there to build something that will improve the eCommerce experience for sellers and buyers, alike.

If you’re a developer who wants to be involved, there’s a special prerequisite puzzle. By solving it, you’ll prove you have the technical chops to program and hack along side the best of the best during the competition. If you’re one of the first 200 hackers to solve it, you’ll also get free tickets to the event — so get yourself registered!
